How does this work?

1
Drop
Every second week we send an update to the Moduleur newsletter showing the instrument we just built.
2
Draw
If you like the synth, enter the draw with your email.
We reach out to people in a random order to offer the synth. You’ll have 24 hours to buy or skip before we move to the next person.
If you don’t get this one, you can stay in for future draws automatically.
3
Repeat
Two weeks later we announce the next Moduleur and repeat until we reach ten instruments.
Shipping is limited to the EU.

a work of art

Every Moduleur in this series is hand built by us. Each faceplate has a unique design hand coated by our friends at RAL5050, using custom colors developed for these instruments. Some designs feature guest graphic designers, each bringing their own visual voice.

The Moduleur is our take on a modular analog synthesizer: flexible, open, sounds like a beast, built from thick aluminum.  It is where our love of design meets our love of music and tech.

The Shmøergh Moduleur is everything we’ve learnt about building synths, designed to be easy to assemble, hack or just enjoy. It comes from our love of music, design and tech so it sounds incredible, looks incredible, and is made for people who care about both.

It includes seven analog modules and a digital one, making it a great starter kit for analog synthesis or a gateway into Eurorack and hardware DIY. The digital module, Brain, is a universal add-on for new sounds, effects, controllers or any wild idea you want to try.

The Moduleur is fully open source, totally flexible, and free for anyone to build — the whole synth or just a couple of modules. It comes with a ready-to-play default patch, but everything is open for you to tweak, break, rebuild, or redesign however you like.

faq

Is this a giveaway?

Nope.

For each drop we shuffle the list of people who entered the draw, and start reaching out from the top. If we contact you, you’ll have 24 hours to buy the instrument or skip it. If you skip, we simply move on to the next person on the list.

Do I have to buy if I enter the draw?

No. If we reach out to you and you decide to skip, that’s completely fine. We’ll simply move on to the next person on the list.

Why is shipping limited to EU?

Since we build and ship everything from Hungary, keeping it inside the EU makes the logistics and paperwork much simpler. Yeh, we know. If this changes in the future, we’ll let you know.

Will you build more Moduleurs?

We might build a few more for friends, but other than that, no — just these ten. Each Moduleur is a unique instrument with its own colors and designs. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Why only ten?

Shmøergh is a love project and we wanna keep it fun. This is fun.

Why so expensive?

We're just two dudes with day-jobs, and we never planned to mass-produce the Moduleur. It's out in the wild, open source and free for anyone to build.

We do this for the fun of learning and wanted to share a few special ones with y'all. These are collectors' items, super rare, one-of-a-kind, "you'll be part of Shmøergh's history" type of synths. We've put all our love and care into them.

What do you do with the money?

We want to finance a no-solder Moduleur DIY kit from the revenue.

Don’t wanna take chances? Build one

The Moduleur is fully open source. If you’d rather not wait or take chances, you can build the full instrument. All design public files are public, all documented.
